This is a guest post from a couple who recently got engaged. Here is their story:
We were going to Walt Disney World to celebrate my graduation from graduate school. Little did I know we would be celebrating something else!
This was our third time going to Walt Disney World together and we were both excited to relax a bit and take it easy. On our third day in Walt Disney World, we started our day with a nice train ride to Fantasyland. George insisted that we ride Dumbo. I couldn’t resist his request since we had never ridden Dumbo before in Walt Disney World and the queue was fairly new with seating and air conditioning. Well, little did I know what was going to happen next! We decided to get into a Dumbo with a red hat. George tried to make our Dumbo go up, but for some reason it wasn’t working properly. He gave up, so I decided to try my luck to make Dumbo fly. After what seemed like forever, I finally got us up to the highest point!
When we reached the top, I looked over at George and noticed he was holding a box with an engagement ring! Then he said to me,
“You know what Ellie and Dumbo’s feather have in common? They made their other half want to fly. Before you came along, I was a little elephant with big ears. I was a little dreamer with big glasses craving adventure. As soon as I held on to you, I flew. I flew so high. We’ve been on many great adventures together. Now I want to take the biggest adventure we’ve ever done and I do not want to do it without you. I love you Michelle. Will you marry me?”
I was in complete shock! We got off of Dumbo and he got on one knee and asked again to marry me. For the first time in the eight years we have been together, George made me completely speechless. I was able to finally let out a yes and then he put the ring on my finger. He also packed “Just Engaged” Buttons, which we put on right away.
As we started walking away from Dumbo a lady approached us, who saw us from afar, and told us she took a few pictures! She sent them to us and then we were off to Be Our Guest for lunch. My heart was still racing so much, that I could barely eat my lunch! We stayed in Be Our Guest for more than two hours!

We then started to walk out of Magic Kingdom and a cast member congratulated us! He then told us to come with him. He led us to the middle of Main Street and faced the castle. He asked George to give him his phone and told George to get down on one knee. The cast member took a few pictures and then shouted with all his might, “Hey everyone! This couple just got engaged!” The whole street was clapping and cheering! One lady even said, “Wait! I missed it! Do it again!” An older gentlemen also came up to us and said, “I better see you here 50 years from now. Congratulations.” It was a pretty magical moment!
Afterwards, we went to Hollywood Studios. I already thought the day was so perfect and felt like it couldn’t get any better! Well, I was wrong! George took me to “San Francisco”, which is where we fell in love, and proposed to me again! He “proposed” to me by getting ready to take a picture and on top of his phone was another ring! On our eight year anniversary, he secretly bought the other ring on Main Street in Disneyland. While he was buying the ring, I was trying to find him for what seemed like an eternity. Little did I know he was in the jewelry store on Main Street! George told me that he wanted to bring me a little piece of Disneyland to our Walt Disney World Engagement!
We ate dinner at the Brown Derby and finished the night with Fantasmic! We then took a bus back to our hotel. George opened the door and I saw lights coming from our dark room. He switched on the lights and to my surprise there was a trail of rose petals on the floor leading up to the bed. On the bed were candles, embroidered towels with our names on them, chocolates, and a signed congratulations photo from Minnie and Mickey. On the nightstand next to the bed, was a beautiful vase of a dozen red roses with sparkling pixie dust on them. A glowing Tinkerbell was sitting on a pillow next to the roses. Another trail of rose petals led to our bathroom sink, which had a basket filled with spa and bath gifts. I literally started to cry. I was so overwhelmed with joy from how perfect the entire day was. George had truly made our engagement day the best day of my life. I was so happy. George truly thought it out from beginning to end. I consider the number three to be my luck number and it meant a lot to me that he wanted to surprise me three times. The rest of our stay was filled with happiness, magic, and excitement towards a beautiful new adventure together.
